50 Simple Swaps to Celebrate Girl Scouts** with Sharon Blackie & Helen Schadegg.

SWAPs have a long history in Girl Scouting. Join us to learn what SWAPs are and how to share them with your troop and service unit. Plus – make tons of SWAPs! 50 simple SWAPs for 50 years of Lakamaga.  Class runs both Session C and D, feel free to sign up for one or both sessions, depending on how many SWAPs you wish to make.


Essential Canoe Skills, Part 2** with Sheila Tatone & Liz Jaeger.

This course gives adults an opportunity to learn and practice basic canoeing skills. This is a continuation of Part 1 and includes the practice test for the American Red Cross Small Craft Safety certification.  Session runs both Session C and D, please register for both sessions.


Firebuilding & Firestarters with Pam Wurster.  

Ever started your own fire? Have trouble getting a wood fire to start and stay lit? Come learn from an expert (she learned from her Girl Scout leader!) on types of fires, how to start one, how to stay safe, and tips to teach girls this useful life skill. If you’ve never started yoru own fire before, this is absolutely the session for you.


Intro to Sewing Basics with Peggy Hall.

Get an introduction to the sewing machine by making a fun and useful tissue carrier. Just bring a “fat quarter” (piece of fabric measuring 18″ x 22″) or two. Sewing machine skills are useful life skills for our girls – and for us! Learn in a safe environment for yourself and pick up tips on how to introduce your girls to it!


Keeping Your Information Safe in a Digital World with Marcia Peters.

The world of cybersecurity doesn’t have to be all scary. To honor the new badges released by GSUSA, let’s get together and learn how to keep your information safe in this digital world.


Lacing** with Julie Denzer.

Remember working with lacing as a young child? We’ll cover sample projects of this time-honored activity and make a project to take.  Projects will include bracelets, lanyards, and keychains. This craft is great for your younger girls to practice their fine-motor skills or have a good quiet-time project.  Session runs both Session C and D, please register for both sessions.


Lashing with Drew Barwis.

Learn an outdoor skill straight out of the old Girl Scout Handbooks! Lashing is the skill of joining sticks/logs with rope to build useful structures. Come learn, practice, and have a great time building something useful.


Mini Chapbook Workshop with Laura Sourdif.

A chapbook is a collection of work (be it poems, story, sketches, etc.) to be shared. Please bring a favorite short poem (by you or someone else), favorite quotes, or another short work you wish to feature in your book. It should be personal to you. We will decorate the book and add text via pens and stamping. A great way to share your own artistic expression – no matter your age!


Rhythm & Drum Circle with Linda Melcher & Laurel Steibler.

Let your feelings out! Drum ’til your heart’s content. No prior drumming experience necessary. We will drum together and discuss rhythm activities to use with your troop at home. All drums and percussion instruments provided.


Service Unit Recruiter Orientation with Pauline Wangen.

Introduction to the recruiter role and go over timelines for recruitment.


Spoon Carving** with Jess Hirsch.

Learn how to carve a spoon from a fresh-cut tree using traditional Nordic carving techniques. This class will cover tree anatomy, axing out a blank (roughed out spoon shape), knife holds for the hook & sloyd knife, drying and finishing. This class is GREAT for a beginning carver. Class fee of $30 is at a discounted rate specifically for Girl Scouts! Fee includes tool rental, all materials, finishing kit, and safety equipment. Please select the “Maker Course – Additional Fees” in registration to submit this additional fee. Session runs both Session C and D, please register for both sessions.


Stained Glass Picture Frames with Mike Fitzloff.

Learn a great craft for your girls – stained glass picture frames you make with markers! This craft is easy to do, incredibly creative, and nice enough to hang in your own home.


Stress Management with Connie Schliesman.

Take a moment from your day to experience mindfulness. Learn about how mindfulness and meditation affect how you manage everyday stress in your own life, as well as tools to teach your girls how to get started.


Trauma Informed Practice Within Your Girl Scout Troop with Carrie Johnson.

It’s time to look at behaviors differently, through a trauma-informed lens. Learn together to cultivate inclusive leadership practices in your troop where you are able to recognize and respond to the effects of trauma.


Where’s My Phone? Phone Addiction with Merri Guggisberg.

Where’s my phone? How many times are we asking this question? This session focuses in on our brain’s need to be around your phone. Call it phone addiction or just attachment! Learn ways to re-wire your own brain to create some space from your technology.


Why Can’t We All Just Get Along? with A.J. Steinbring.

Conflict happens, how do you deal with it? Whether it involves girls, co-leaders, or parents; learn how to effectively work through conflict with grace.
